Lyrical MC eavesdrops inside classrooms and corridors, and invites us to tune in to the chat of students from Britain's diverse schools and colleges.
Sita Brahmachari's poetic play weaves together verbatim scenes and characters devised by young people, based on their own backgrounds and family stories. As we enter into their private worlds, a revealing subtext of allegiances and rivalries soon emerges.
Lyrical MC is a rhythmic, multi-lingual production, which mixes an audio soundtrack with a fast moving, choral performance style. Directed by Kristine Landon-Smith, it is performed in three 'movements' by a dynamic company of fifteen young actors from south London drama group, REACT.
Lyrical MC opens at Oval House Theatre on Wednesday 6 February. Tickets are limited so book early!
