2012 round-up & thank you!

Before getting into what we’re looking forward to in 2013, we’d like to take a quick look back over 2012’s highlights and say a huge thanks to you our wonderful audiences, supporters, friends, partners and collaborators. We started the year by moving in to our new home, Rich Mix followed closely by a storming UK tour and Bush Theatre run of Snookered by Ishy Din. The Tamasha Developing Artists programme saw dramatic growth with more workshops, courses, masterclasses and opportunities than any other year and a fantastic addition to our core team, Valerie Synmoie: TDA Project Manager. TDAs showcased their talents at two sold-out scratch nights at Rich Mix and one at Bush Theatre in partnership with the South Asian Literature Festival. Digital explorations have led to work showcased on our new Online Gallery , which we have big plans for in 2013. We gave a sneak preview of The Arrival at Alchemy Festiva at the Southbank Centre and expanded our international work when The Trouble with Asian Men went to Parramasala Festival in Australia. In other overseas news, Sudha took a trip to the USA , plans are shaping up for a possible trip to India in the New Year and most significantly Kristine announced that she would be moving to Sydney to take up the post of Lecturer in Acting at NIDA find out more and watch this space for further news. It really has been a bumper 12 months for Tamasha and we are looking forward to many exciting things in the coming year. If you are interested in supporting our work and artists with a regular donation find out more here.

Thank you again to all, see you in 2013!

Following the recent successes of Tamasha Scratch Nights we are thrilled to announce ‘A Night of Cultural Defiance’, our latest scratch, which will feature new work created in response to major global issues, thus placing the Artist in the role of Activist. We recently welcomed Alia Alzougbi to the team, Alia is on a Step Change placement with and we are thrilled that she has joined us to produce the scratch. We had a huge amount of wonderful artist’s submissions and are thrilled to announce that the night will feature work from Yamina Bakiri, Akkas Al-Ali, Bettina Gracias, Avaes Mohamed and Ellie Strigner and there will be free workshops during the day.
