This opportunity is open to artists of all cultural backgrounds.
Deadline for applications: Monday 4th February

In an innovative collaboration, Tamasha is working with the Actors Centre on a new training programme that will enable directors (and actors with an interest in developing careers as directors) to explore Tamasha’s unique intracultural approach to creating theatre. This approach aims to bring out the “whole” actor rather than concentrating on the composite “parts” and will also engage with the cultural identity of each performer; therefore working with cultural differences, rather than against, or ignoring them entirely.

You will explore the relationship between actor & director in a creative space that allows for shared learning. Directors will work with Kristine Landon-Smith to explore her unique actor-centred model and participants will:

• gain a thorough grounding in the intracultural approach to theatre-making
• explore Kristine’s method through play, improvisation and script work
• learn techniques for communication between actors and directors
• connect and collaborate with other artists and explore ways of bringing their own individuality and cultural background to their work.

This course is suitable for established or emerging directors or actors with a demonstrable interest in pursuing a career as a director. Participants should have an interest in exploring an approach that engages the totality of the actor; their personality, culture and background.

“The laboratory has really changed not only the way I work as a director, but has really led me to re-think what it is that I am doing as an artist.” Tamasha workshop participant director.
