Tamasha Developing Artists: BBC Performing Arts Fellowship – Regional Creative Producer

Deadline: midday on Monday 14th July 2014

Tamasha is offering an exciting new opportunity for an Regional Creative Producer. This opportunity is being offered as part of Tamasha’s application to the BBC Performing Arts Fellowship programme, and is subject to our application being successfully awarded funding.

The Fellowship will offer a paid placement in 2015 for an artist or creative practitioner wishing to develop their producing skills and experience. The appointed Fellow will work alongside Tamasha’s core team on devising and producing the company’s regional programme and developing our Tamasha Developing Artists programme in the regions including a range of new strategic partnerships with regional venues; the potential roll-out of key strands of our work (e.g. Schoolwrights), and growing new regional TDA networks.

The role of the Fellow will be devised on appointment, however at this stage we anticipate some of the core functions to include:

* working closely with Tamasha’s Co-Artistic Directors and the core team to create and produce a programme of activity in the regions (ie. outside London) during 2015.
* working with a number of regional TDA Associate Artists to curate TDA activity linked to our core productions
* identifying and approaching possible regional co-producers and other artistic partners, to deliver the regional programme
* undertake research related to projects in development including funding sources and potential audience groups
* negotiating agreements and contractual arrangements with regional partners and regional Associate Artists
* a range of other activities appropriate to the post, that will be devised and agreed once funding is confirmed.

The exact work plan for the Regional Creative Producer will be defined on appointment, in line with the BBC Performing Arts Fellowship programme guidance, to ensure that the programme is specific to the needs and interests of the candidate.

You should be able to demonstrate a strong interest in Tamasha’s work and diverse theatre practice in general. The Fellow will also receive support, guidance and mentoring from Tamasha.

We are looking for artists who:
* have a strong and demonstrable interest in developing a career in theatre producing
*have experience of producing in some capacity (e.g. producing own shows, working on student productions
etc.) and a strong desire to further their skills in this area
*have a good understanding of regional theatre in the UK
*have good negotiation skills and are able to speak with passion and authority on behalf of the company
*have experience of devising and managing budgets
*are proactive, hard-working individuals, with excellent communication skills
*are organised and efficient, able to prioritise and take initiative
*are discreet, and with the ability to keep calm under pressure
*are a team player who are sensitive to colleagues’ pressures and instinctively supportive

Please note that:
1. The appointment of this Fellowship is conditional upon Tamasha being awarded funding through the BBC Performing Arts Fellowship. This is a nationwide competitive programme, and we will hear the outcome of our application in November 2014. The Fellowship is not a salary but provides funding to cover time and resources needed to develop a talented individual.
2. The Fellowship is only open to applicants who have not previously undertaken any paid employment or paid developmental opportunity with Tamasha. This is a requirement of the BBC PAF funding programme and is non-negotiable.

Fee & dates: The exact bursary fee will be negotiated on appointment with the Fellow, however it will be up to c.£8000, plus additional funds to cover necessary travel, other related expenses and relocation costs where appropriate.
It is expected that the Fellowship will run between January and December 2015, through an agreed flexible programme on a part-time basis – the exact working pattern will be agreed with the selected bursary recipient after appointment, however we anticipate at this stage the recipient will work from the office 1-2 days on most weeks. The appointed Fellow needs to be able to work from the Tamasha offices on a regular basis and the post will involve travel.
