Tamasha Developing Artists
A bridge into professional employment
As a direct result of their involvement in the programme, many artists have gone on to professional engagements with Tamasha.
Following his role in East is East, actor Nadim Sawhala returned to Tamasha to take up a Development Commission allowing him to workshop an idea for a script: the result was Tamasha's cult show All I Want is a British Passport!
Both of the Company's Artists-in-Residence, Amman Brar and Sonia Likhari, came to us through Tamasha New Writing. Most recently, Design Direct participants Amit Sharma and Sakina Karimjee have been engaged as Assitant Director and Designer respectively on Lyrical MC. One further participant, Gabrielle Williams (pictured) will assist Designer Sue Mayes on Tamasha's forthcoming Bollywood interpretation of Wuthering Heights.
Many other artists have found opportunities with other companies after having participated in the programme.
“The [Design Direct] open day has made an important impression on my career as a designer and continues to do so.”
Rachana Jadhav, designer and Design Direct participant
