Tamasha Developing Artists: Esmée Fairbairn Emerging Producer Bursary

Context
Tamasha is offering an exciting new opportunity for an emerging theatre producer. This bursary, supported by
Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, will provide a minimum of 6 month placement for an artist or creative practitioner wishing to develop their producing skills and experience. The bursary holder will work alongside Tamasha’s core team on producing the company’s artistic programme.

Through this bursary we can offer the opportunity to:
* work closely with Tamasha’s Co-Artistic Directors and the core team to realise the production of our programme.
* undertake research related to projects in development including funding sources and potential audience groups
*  identify possible co-producers and other artistic partners, in collaboration with the Co-Artistic Directors
* be part of the negotiation of contracts for touring productions, ensuring the best deals for the Company are achieved
*work with the Co-Artistic Directors and General Manager on the drafting and management of production budgets and scenario planning
* work with appointed production and creative teams on the logistics of the productions as appropriate

The bursary recipient will be fully supported throughout the process of the bursary, and will receive 1-2-1’s with members of the team. We will also explore the possibility of offering a short placement with one of our co-producing partners or tour venues during the bursary period, to provide the supported artist with a range of practical experiences during their tenure with us.

The exact work plan for the emerging producer will be defined on appointment, in line with the selected candidates skillset and interests. At this point we anticipate that they will be given a discrete portfolio of projects, including managing administrative tasks associated with the work.

Details:
Fee
: we are able to offer a bursary of £4000 for the role.
Dates
: The role will run for a minimum of six months from summer 2014 on a flexible part-time basis – the exact working pattern will be agreed with the selected bursary recipient after appointment, however we anticipate at this stage that the bursary recipient will work from the office 1-2 days on most weeks.

Additionally there is a small allowance to cover any necessary out of London travel and associated expenses, for example to attend meetings at tour venues.

This opportunity is open to all, however, you should be able to demonstrate a strong interest in Tamasha’s work and diverse theatre practice in general. We would also be particularly interested in artists with understanding or knowledge of regional and / or international touring, as well as fundraising to support work.

We are looking for artists who:
* have a strong and demonstrable interest in developing a career in theatre producing
* have experience of producing in some capacity (eg. producing own shows, working on student productions etc.)
* have a good understanding of the current situation in theatre touring in the UK
* have good negotiation skills and are able to speak with passion and authority on behalf of the company
* have experience of devising and managing budgets
* have a genuine desire to further develop their understanding and skills in relation to producing
* are proactive, hard-working individuals, with excellent communication skills
* are organised and efficient, able to prioritise and take initiative
* are discreet, and with the ability to keep calm under pressure
* are a team player who are sensitive to colleagues’ pressures and instinctively supportive
