The parameters

  • Script extracts should be no more than 15 minutes in performance (roughly 10 pages)
  • Pieces must be for a maximum of four actors (doubling possible)
  • We’re looking for play ideas for which there is a good reason for Tamasha to produce now, in the UK
  • Scenes from longer scripts are welcome

We positively encourage artists from Black, Asian, MENA, and all ethnic minority backgrounds to apply.

As a touring company, we are also particularly keen in ideas set with universal, non-London centric themes.

Made at Home

A call out for new short plays for a Tamasha virtual scratch night via Zoom on 21 September 2020

2020. A year to remember. And a year of change. And change we must.

Every year, we've been asking you to send us new short scripts, on any subject, with those selected few being scratched in front of a live audience. But a certain virus that shall not be named has pooped all over that, so Plan B: we adapt and take it all online.

As we've all spent a lot of time in our respective homes this year, we thought, why not get creative and set HOME as our theme. This doesn't have to be too on-the-nose - we're looking for a wide range of creative responses. So whether you've got a piece about what home has meant to you during the last few months, or if home is another country, a smell, a memory, a person - it's completely up to you.

We’ll select and present four as script-in-hand readings this September to be presented to an online audience. This is your opportunity to scratch your work with professional actors and a director. Our homes are open, so over to you.

All genres are welcome.

NB: We can’t promise to commission or produce these as full Tamasha shows – but never say never. We’re also hoping to meet some exciting new voices who we might be able to match to other strands of our work.

We are grateful to City Bridge Trust for supporting Tamasha through the London Community Response Fund to deliver digital projects and our professional development programme for London-based artists during this time.
