Norman Beaton Open Casting Session

Wednesday 12th December 2018 at Tamasha

Apply by 12pm, Thursday 6th December 2018

Are you a professional actor or actress who has not trained at an accredited drama school? Are you looking to expand your experience by working in radio drama?

We are one of 9 companies nationwide chosen to work with BBC Radio Drama to workshop suitable candidates for the annual Norman Beaton Fellowship

This is a fantastic opportunity for 8-10 professional actors - who haven’t trained at an accredited drama school - to audition for a 5-month contract with the BBC Radio Drama Company.

We are on the look-out for versatile voices who feel at home working collaboratively and are happy to play as cast in a variety of roles across a range of Radio Drama productions. Previous winners who have auditioned with Tamasha include Adeel Akhtar, Karen Bartke and Gavi Singh Chera.

This year we are hosting an open casting session on Wednesday 12 December 2018 prior to the scheduled workshop date with the BBC in January 2019 to meet Tamasha Developing Artists who are eligible and interested in taking part.

To register your interest in taking part in the open casting session, please send a recent headshot and up-to-date CV to stella@tamasha.org.uk by 12pm Thursday 6th December 2018.

Successful applicants will be notified of the time of their session by Monday 10th December 2018 and will be sent further information about what to expect on the day. The session will take place at Tamasha's offices in London.

Auditionees will need to prepare two contrasting monologues (lasting no more than three minutes in total). They do not need to be memorised. If you're stuck for monologue inspiration, then you may find useful the recently published, Hear Me Now: Auditions Monologues for Actors of Colour - a unique collection of over 80 original audition pieces written by and for actors of colour.

We regret that due to high demand we are unable to respond to applicants who have not been offered an open casting session time-slot on this occasion.

Before registering your interest in the Norman Beaton Fellowship, please ensure you meet the criteria of the Terms and Conditions of the Fellowship, including, but not limited to:

  • You must have professional credits in theatre, television or film but must not have trained at an accredited drama school.
  • You must be available for every round of the Norman Beaton Fellowship, including the confirmed Tamasha workshop at the BBC on Wednesday 16th January 2019.
