A Fine Balance rehearsals

Observer Traineeships

Observer Traineeships offer emerging directors a closely mentored opportunity to observe the entire rehearsal period of a Tamasha production, from the first day in the studio to the opening night performance.  We also offer the opportunity to observe in workshops and other events.

Combining observation with in-depth trainee / mentor conversations, practical exercises and involvement in creative and production meetings, Observer Traineeships provide first-hand experience of Tamasha’s practice and allows space for each trainee to explore this approach in relation to his/her own creative process.

"As an aspiring director, Kristine is an inspirational character, because her actor-centred approach actually demonstrates her respect and faith in actors’ talents as well as her own specific art of providing the tools to find and make a performance." Joshua Azouz, Observer on Sweet Cider

Wuthering Heights

Tamasha has offered four people the opportunity to observe director, Kristine Landon-Smith in rehearsal for the Company's forthcoming musical Wuthering Heights, which will tour nationally in Spring 2009.  These placements will offer a closely-mentored opportunity to oberseve the entire rehearsal period from day one. Bespoke Observerships

In addition, Tristan Bernays has been offered a Bespoke Observership on Wuthering Heights which offers an overview of the whole production process over eight weeks. As well as spending time in rehearsals, Tristan will also be involved in producion, stage management, marketing, development, press and administration of the Tamasha Developing Artists programme, benefiting from one-to-one sessions with key members of the Tamasha team.

Tristan studied at the University of Bristol and trained as an actor at LAMDA, from where he graduated this summer. He hopes to apply the skills he learns from this Observership to his own ambitions of setting up a theatre company.
