Poonam produced her first show in October 2009 with her new company Theatre WaaH! Next up is The River Project a devised multi narrative project initiated with process time at the Young Vic. As director, theatre includes: Young America (Northampton Theatres), Doubledutch (Tristan Bates), Unzipped (Maria Theatre, Young Vic), Daring Pairings (Hampstead Theatre), Torn (Hackney Empire), Borderlines (Royal Court) A Sort of Homecoming (Birmingham Rep), Winners, King Saturn (Soho Theatre), Trees Aren’t That Thick (Stratford East) and Bells (Birmingham Rep, Glasgow Arches, Southwark Playhouse). Poonam was an artistic associate at Theatre Royal Stratford East and has directed for the new writing programme at Soho Theatre, for Kali Theatre new writing festivals and for the Royal Court International Residency. Poonam has worked on classic texts at the Young Vic as assistant director to Richard Jones on Hobson’s Choice and Trevor Nunn on Skellig and assisting Sean Holmes on Julius Ceasar at the RSC. Poonam trained at the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, The NT Studio Directors Course and at the RSC.
