Tamasha Workshop: Audition Pieces for Diverse Actors

Date: 2nd December 2016
Time: 5 -7 pm
Cost: Free (Tickets to Hear Me Now required)

This free workshop for actors from diverse backgrounds will bring together up to fourteen actors with an emerging professional playwright from the in-house Tamasha Playwrightsgroup, to develop a new 3-minute audition speech specially created for each actor.

Tamasha's Artistic Director Fin Kennedy will lead the actors in an imaginative exercise to create a new character entirely of their choosing, then time will be spent with the writer to start to develop story ideas for a speech in that character's voice. The idea is to create interesting, quirky, unique parts for diverse actors which avoid stereotype, to better showcase the actors' range than the parts available to them in the existing canon of new British plays.

This two-hour workshop will be followed by an 8-week writing process by the writers, followed by a 1.5 hour follow up workshop early in 2017 to receive a draft of your new speech, read it aloud, and talk through any final changes for your writer before they hand over a final draft for you to learn - and include in your audition repertoire for years to come.

The writers taking part in this workshop are Ayesha Siddiqi, Rabiah Hussain, Tessa Hart, Ross Willis, Guleraana Mir, Paula David and Titi Dawudu

Please note this workshop is only available to those who have purchased tickets to our Hear Me Now - Diverse Monologues scratch night at Rich Mix. Book tickets to Hear Me Now here >
