Tamasha Scratch Night: Associate Companies 2018

Friday 12 October 2018, 7.30pm | Rich Mix, London E1

Tamasha present another evening of dynamic new work in our final Scratch Night of the year, this time showcasing the work of our two Associate Companies, Purple Moon Drama and Written Foundations

An evening of two halves, enjoy excerpts from two exciting new pieces, each of them with the voices of young people at their heart.

Graveyard Gang

by Lakesha Arie-Angelo. Directed by Simone Watson

On New Years Eve, what would have been Lola’s 18th Birthday, her closest friends visit her grave. Celebrations turn sour when they have to face up to the hurt and guilt Lola’s death caused and their part in it. Can they learn to put the past behind them? Can their friendships survive?

Purple Moon Drama is a theatre company for young people who would like to grow in confidence and pursue a career within the creative sector. Led by Cheryl Ndione, they produce two full-scale productions per year and have mostly recently toured to Pit Theatre at the Barbican Centre, The Rag Factory, Brady Arts Centre, Spotlight and at Rich Mix. Purple Moon Drama nurture creative talent from all members of the community, irrespective of socio-economic status.

The Talk

Directed by Brigitte Adela

We asked a diverse group of 18 - 25 year olds what they understand about consent. This is what they said... From carelessly posting pictures of drunk friends on Facebook to intimate relationships and everything in between, The Talk is a creative research project that manifests in different forms. This is the play.

Written Foundations is dedicated to exploring the artistry of the text and using the theatrical voice as a vehicle to start conversations. They passionately use theatre as a tool for change and aim to engage audiences, titillate their minds and tickle their senses, as well as entertain them. Written Foundations is a collaborative platform led by Brigitte Adela and always seeks to work with emerging writers, designers, choreographers, and other creatives.
